Considering the prevalence of sexual harassment, especially in university contexts, it is essential to have a validated instrument to identify these characteristics in the educational community. For this reason, this study aimed to analyze the psychometric processes of the sexual harassment scale on university campuses. Using an instrumental design and a sample of 927 students, it was found that the values of the evidence of construct validity and reliability are acceptable. The practical implications of validating the instrument that will allow (...) the identification of sexual harassment problems to promote symmetrical coexistence between men and women are highlighted. In spite of being ubiquitous in life sciences, the concept of information is harshly criticized. Uses of the concept other than those derived from Shannon's theory are denounced as pernicious metaphors. We perform a computational experiment to explore whether Shannon's information is adequate to describe the uses of said concept in commonplace scientific practice. Our results show that semantic sequences do not have unique complexity values different from the value of meaningless sequences. This result suggests that quantitative theoretical frameworks do (...) not account fully for the complex phenomenon that the term “information” refers to. We propose a restructuring of the concept into two related, but independent notions, and conclude that a complete theory of biological information must account completely not only for both notions, but also for the relationship between them. En la vida cotidiana del ejercicio del derecho, ya sea en el campo de la judicatura, ora en el del litigio, bien sea en el de la academia, o en actividades administrativas, es bastante común que se hable de la prueba sumaria; pero desafortunadamente no es común que se tenga plena conciencia de su entidad, alcances y usos conforme a su propia naturaleza. Es preocupante observar la peligrosa y antijurídica ligereza, con la cual se acude a la prueba sumaria; pero (...) no para darle su natural uso, sino para superar omisiones de los sujetos procesales con interés de parte en el cumplimiento de las cargas probatorias. La prueba sumaria es utilizada en forma deliberada para conseguir ciertas ventajas probatorias en el proceso, con evidente desmedro del derecho de prueba de la contraparte, afectación de la garantía de la igualdad real de las partes en el proceso, y conculcación del derecho de defensa en toda su extensión. En realidad, el mal uso de la prueba sumaria implica violar los principios probatorios de necesidad, publicidad, contradicción, legalidad y formalidad de la prueba. En otros términos, la utilización indiscriminada de la prueba sumaria, sin el cuidado y la estrictez exigidos expresamente por el mismo legislador para poder usarla, constituye una manifiesta violación al derecho constitucional fundamental al debido proceso. Taking into account the difficulties that all attempts at a solution of the problem of causal-explanatory exclusion have experienced, we analyze in this paper the chances that mind-body causation is a case of overdetermination, a line of attack that has scarcely been explored. Our conclusion is that claiming that behaviors are causally overdetermined cannot solve the problem of causal-explanatory exclusion. The reason is the problem of massive coincidence, that can only be avoided by establishing a relation between mind and body; (...) that is, by denying overdetermination. The only way to defend that mind-body causation is a case of overdetermination would be by denying any modal force whatever to the principle of the causal closure of the physical, and this is a claim we would not like to reject. This paper discusses the limitations, omissions and value judgements of the application of conventional economic analysis in the evaluation of climate change mitigation policies. It is argued that these have biased the result of the assessment models towards the recommendation of less aggressive mitigation strategies. Consequently, this paper questions whether they provide appropriate policy recommendations. The unequal distribution of rights implicitly assumed in conventional economic analyses applied to climate change is questioned and an alternative approach considering a distribution of rights (...) consistent with sustainable development is put forward. Finally, the points that an analysis consistent with sustainable development should take into account are presented. (shrink)

If we read Ludwig Wittgenstein's works and take his scientific formation in mathematical logic into account, it comes as a surprise that he ever developed a particular interest in anthropological questions. The following questions immediately arise: What role does anthropology play in Wittgenstein's work? How do problems concerning mankind as a whole relate to his philosophy? How does his approach relate to philosophical anthropology? How does he view classical issues about Man's affairs and actions? The aim of this book is (...) to investigate the anthropological questions that Wittgenstein raised in his works. The answers to the questions raised in this introduction may be found on the intersection between forms of life and radical translation from another culture into ours. For some time now we have noticed an increasing scepticism regarding the effectiveness of democracy, and its ability to represent citizens through elections. Elections are the central mechanism of political decision taking. However, there is a clear tendency to exploit electo­ rial processes by populist politicians. The ancient ideal of paideia was to educate citizens by following a civic program. Its aim was to enable the citizen to exercise the civil rights and duties. Since the 1970s, however, we had observed (...) two contrasting tendencies: a growth of individualization, and a ecrease of the level of civic education. In the 1990s populist politi­ cal parties entered the political scene of European democracies, some of which have man­ aged to establish a mob rule or ochlocracy (ὀχλοκρατία). Since then, ochlocratic parties have systematically intended to win the votes of politically less educated citizens by offering them a simplified political discourse. In fact, these parties have managed to neutralize the two­party system in many European countries. Thus they managed to block majority­based governments, forcing parties to form coalitions with ideologically opposing smaller parties. This has created a situation in which the “punishment vote” becomes the mean to gain the votes of undecided people who may be characterized as rebels without political culture. (shrink)

Ludwig Wittgenstein’s writings inspired contemporary philosophical thinking and advanced many issues that had been addressed by traditional philosophy. The questions raised by the Viennese philosopher initiated debates on a reconsideration of philosophical terminology. This is especially true for a term that has generated at least three significant controversies since its creation and will probably generate more disputes in the following years. It is the expression “form(s) of life” which translates into German as “Lebensform(en)” and “Form des Lebens”. En la ’metateoría de las teorías científicas’ se exhibe una especie de catálogo de los problemas más destacados de la filosofía de la ciencia. La metateoría científica analiza la teoría de las formas con las que opera el lenguaje científico. Así pues, es una teoría descriptiva de determinadas estructuras científicas. En esta monografía analizamos la metateoría de la ciencia, el papel que juegan los condicionales contrafácticos en las teorías científicas, los problemas vinculados a los términos teóricos, el análisis de la (...) incomensurabilidad y los cambios estructurales que aparecen con los cambios teóricos. Das problem der welt, nach der auffassung der moglichen welt-semantik, ist nur implizit vorhanden. bis heute gibt es nur eine allgemeine auffassung der welt im einverstandnis mit der intuition der moglichen welten. die fragestellung ist: wie kann ein gegenstand identifiziert werden und warum kann von dessen existenz gesprochen werden? der logisch-semantische streit geht quer durch das verfahren der universellen "instantijerung" und der existenziellen generalisation. das problem der eigenschaften in der kausalen namenserklarung wird durch die bestimmung des kunftigen, durch vergangenes, also (...) durch die these der starrheit gelost. unserer meinung nach, ist hier das verfahren der "moglichen welten" eine art kaleidoskop der referenz der eigennament. dies fuhrt dazu, dass entitaten sich verveilfachen und in verschiedenen "welten" alle gleich erscheinen. daruber hinaus mussen eigenschaften bei der beschreibung eines objekts wesentlich sein. dadurch werden grade der diskriminalitat eingefuhrt, die nicht akzeptierbar sind. Se ha producido un hecho novedoso y, al mismo tiempo, conocido en el ámbito teórico. La teoría semántica de la verdad se ha vuelto a reconciliar con la lógica, con el gusto por plantear cuestiones vinculadas al concepto semántico de verdad mediante estructuras lógicas. Y en la teoría de la verdad vuelven a plantearse los temas semánticos desde una vertiente formal. La teoría de la verdad propuesta recientemente ha reencontrado las estructuras formales, los temas vinculados a la lógica, los vínculos (...) entre las estructuras formales y las cuestiones semánticas, etc., y lo hace en coincidencia, acentúo, con un análisis formal paralelo que se viene proponiendo desde hace algún tiempo. The aim of this article is to reconstruct the contributions that Wittgenstein made to the field of aesthetics. The focus of interest lies on the theory of sensory perception. This theory is characterized as a program of “minimal visibilia” and will be analyzed by employing the phenomenological method. Three problems are addressed in the context of the visual space, such as blurredness, indistinctness and sensory impressions. A distinction between the visual space and the Euclidean space can only be made by (...) comparing their respective typical structures. We will particularly analyze the relation that exists between the perceiving human being on the one hand and the visual space on the other hand. In order to get a deeper insight into this problem the visual space shall be compared to a two-dimensional picture. Moreover the role and function of the colours have to be clarified to establish a “minimum visibilia”. (shrink)

El fin de este trabajo es analizar desde un punto de vista histórico y sistemático la paradoja adscrita a Córax de Siracusa y a Tisias. Primero se exponen las diferentes versiones de la misma. Segundo se describe el argumento de la probabilidad y la argumentación recíproca. Seguidamente se estudian las refutaciones desarrolladas por Platón y Aristóteles. El primero acentúa la distinción entre verdad y probabilidad. El segundo analiza los diferentes significados de probabilidad. Posteriormente se reconstruirá la estructura autorreferencial en la (...) que se asienta la paradoja de Córax. Finalmente se evalúa sistemáticamente el argumento de la probabilidad inversa. En este trabajo argumentaré que el recurso seguido por Córax tiene como fin invalidar el procedimiento mediante la introducción de la estructura de la probabilidad inversa. (shrink)

En este artículo se proporciona una pormenorizada lectura del pasaje del Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus que Wittgenstein dedica al análisis de la clase de oraciones que expresan una actitud epistémica de un sujeto hacia una proposición (de 5.54 a 5.5423). Se argumenta que en dicho pasaje Wittgenstein pretende mostrar que el valor de verdad no depende de las partes constituyentes sino del todo. Se analiza cada una de las partes de las que consta un enunciado de creencia. Wittgenstein demuestra que el valor (...) de verdad del enunciado de creencia no depende del valor de verdad del enunciado insertado en la oración subordinada. Tampoco depende del sujeto lingüístico. El valor de verdad recae sobre el complejo y se debe de entender como tal. (shrink)

Undoubtedly, Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951) is considered one of the most famous philosophers. In contrast to other 20 th century philosophers, who arranged to have their complete works published while still alive or after their deaths, Wittgenstein’s works are still incompletely published with only part of them being in print. He wasn’t concerned with the issue of notoriety nor was he concerned with fame. However, his lectures and publications would very early be recognized by his Spanish colleagues and were reviewed as (...) early as in 1933. This volume is designed to present new ideas and approaches to analysis to open up a new perspective in the reception of Wittgenstein’s works. This volume of essays has a unity and bears throughout the imprint of Wittgenstein’s powerful and original mind. The authors have published most of their contributions in international journals.
